Facilitating Adult Family Conversations
Anyone thinking of expanding their career in mediation by learning new skills in Elder Care Mediation should take this course. The class will offer a greater understanding of why mediation is a positive way for caregivers and family member of seniors, when having those “difficult family conversations” regarding life decisions that are necessary. Additionally the class will offer techniques for productive case development through an increased awareness of the variability of ethical dilemmas that can arise and skills to proactively prevent ethical breaches of professional conduct. Through simulated scenarios class participants will gain an understanding the physical, psychological, legal and financial issues involved in the aging process. The role-plays will lead to qualified proficiency in case development and monitoring for issues of abuse, neglect; and addictions.
When:
October 10 - 12, 2014; 1 weekend consisting of Friday night 5:30 p.m. -9:00 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. A text is required, the class manual, community resources and handouts will be provided.
Cost: $350.00, or $325.00 (early-bird registration if mailed by September 27, 2014)
